Dr. Joseph Morgan, Pastor

From the Office of the Pastor

It is with great pleasure that I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Savior.  We thank you for your commitment to Jerusalem M. B. Church and for your untiring devotion to the Christian cause which we represent – Equipping the Saints for Service and Winning the Lost to Jesus Christ.  These are banners that hang inside our Church’s auditorium so that we stay reminded of the purpose for which we are called to do.

It is my desire that every member of Jerusalem M. B. Church would also be educated disciples in the ministry of Christ.  There are many members of the body of Christ, but one head, and that is Jesus Christ.  We are each assigned a task in the winning of souls and we must be about that as the Number One aim and goal.  All else is secondary.  “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Ref. Matthew 28:19-20.

So to this end, I urge you to stay fully engaged in the work of the Lord and support the work of the Church in this community where we are assigned.  Jesus came to establish the work for us to do, arm us with His Word and equip us through prayer and study time to be bold and authorized witnesses for Him.

Brothers and Sisters, it is important that whatever work you are assigned, that you do it with a dire sense of urgency.  Tomorrow is not promised.  In Genesis 1:1, the Bible starts with “In the beginning, God . . .” So our foundation for this work was laid in the beginning and the God’s plan was set into motion for us to work for Him.  We were selected even before we were born.  So we have been assigned to do His good work in faithful service until we complete our time here on earth.  We must work the work of Him who sent us while it is day for when night cometh, no man can work.  Ref. John 9:4.

Remember, Jesus prayed for us and He promises to be with us always through our travels here.  He will never leave us nor will He forsake us.  Ref. Hebrews 13:5.  So whatever work you have been duly assigned under the authority of Jesus Christ, do so with all the energy and enthusiasm you have for only what you do for Christ will indeed last.  Your life, what you do and who you touch while you are here will leave a tremendous legacy after you have left.  Be an approved workman unto Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith!

YOURS, BECAUSE OF CHRIST

“Blessed is the man, who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord,
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
